Winter semester course 2025/26: application possible until Sunday, August 31st, 2025
We only consider applications within the given deadline.
Only international staff members of the University of Graz are eligible for this funding opportunity. Staff members must have a valid employment contract when the course takes place.
If you are about to start your job at Uni Graz, you can also apply for this funding prior to the contract start date - however, the contract must be valid at the time the course starts. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We provide funding for one German language course at treffpunkt sprachen per international staff member. If you have already received funding for a German course, you cannot be considered for funding anymore.

You can register for the German course and the placement test (if necessary) after you were notified about the application results by the Welcome Center.
Once your funding application has been approved by the Welcome Center, you have to register for the German course of your choice. The period between the application deadline for funding and the registration deadline at treffpunkt sprachen is sufficient for a timely course registration.
Yes, if you have German skills already, you have to take a placement test before the course registration starts, unless you have a recent ÖSD or Goethe language certificate. Please find further information about the placement tests on the website of treffpunkt sprachen.
No, if you get selected for our funding, we pay the course fee to treffpunkt sprachen for you. You just have to sign up for the class you wish to take at treffpunkt sprachen as well as the placement test, if required.
